Mothers’ Day Out (MDO)

Our Mother’s Day Out ministry offers an opportunity for younger children to play and enjoy a safe environment.

Mothers’ Day Out accepts children age 9 months through 4 years of age, and children are placed in classrooms with other children their age where they receive age appropriate instruction and play.

The hours for Mothers’ Day Out are Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 am-11:30am, with aftercare offered until 2:30pm on those days.

Summer Latch Key Ministry

2020 Summer Latch Key is not being offered this summer due to Covid-19.

Latch Key Ministry

The Latch Key Ministry provides a safe, fun place for elementary age children after the school day is over.

Latch Key participants are picked up from the following schools: Mesa, Zia, Sandia, Parkview, Highland and Barry each afternoon by 2 adults and delivered safely to First UMC where they participate in activities, share in a snack, work on homework, and spend time in a safe environment until picked up by their parent/guardian.

The hours of Latchkey are Monday – Friday from end of school-5:30pm.

The Latch Key ministry follows the Clovis Municipal Schools schedule.

All childcare ministries at First UMC are licensed by the CYFD of the State of New Mexico.

Safe Sanctuary Policy

At First UMC we practice the Safe Sanctuary approach to child safety. In short, Safe Sanctuaries means there is always a minimum of two adults with children, children are never left alone with one adult, and there is an awareness in making sure that both children and adults are protected.

Each Mothers’ Day Out and Latch Key Staff member is First Aid trained and CPR certified to ensure the safety of every child in our program. Additionally, all staff go through Safe Sanctuaries training to ensure that all participants and staff are protected.

Our Latchkey van volunteer drivers and riders are also background checked and trained to ensure the safety of the children entrusted to our care.

Our goal with both Mothers’ Day Out and Latch Key is to provide a caring, Christian environment to help each child grow and to feel secure.

Availability is limited for both ministries.

To find out more information or to register your child, please contact Director of Childcare Ministries Melissa Siliceo by email or by phone at 575-763-8969.
